SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is designed to verify whether an email message is sent by a licensed server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the faking of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, but when it doesn't come from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address to make it look as if you are sending spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

The SPF protection feature is provided by default with each and every hosting plan that we offer and you are able to use it without any difficulty in order to protect the email addresses for any domain hosted within your account. The service is handled through the Emails section of the innovative, and easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel. What is needed to activate the protection is to type the IP of the email server plus its hostname - mail.server.com, for example. When the protection is active, only this server will be able to send email messages from emails made under the domain name that you've picked. Your emails may be taken care of by a different provider, but if we manage them along with your site, you can enable the option for your messages to be sent only if the domain uses our MX records. This solution will provide you with improved protection as solely our server will be permitted to send e-mail messages from your mailboxes and you will have better control. When you have any questions or if you have any issues with this service, you will be able to contact our technical support crew anytime and they will give you a hand without delay.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature comes with all Linux semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this particular service effortlessly for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a rather user-friendly interface, which means that you won't have to be tech-savvy in order to protected your e-mail addresses. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you've chosen. As a further option, we also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only when the domain in question has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be handled by us and not by a different supplier. Doing so you will enjoy even better control and there won't be any chance for any person to counterfeit your e-mails for harmful uses.
